Ferrari Academy talent Alba Larsen explains how Maranello is accelerating her development
For young racing drivers aiming to reach the pinnacle of motorsport, access to the right environment can make a huge difference. That is one of the reasons why Ferrari Driver Academy member Alba Larsen believes her partnership with the Scuderia is playing such an important role in her development.
The Danish talent recently reflected on the benefits of joining Ferrari ahead of the current season, highlighting the opportunities that come with being part of one of the most successful and recognizable organizations in motorsport.
When asked how Ferrari’s Formula 1-level resources compare to those available in junior categories, Alba Larsen was full of praise for the support she receives in Maranello.
“It’s so amazing to be with Ferrari because of all the access that I have in Maranello. When I’m not travelling, I’m there using their facilities. They’re the best of the best and they know what they’re doing, so I can learn so much from them in training and testing.”
Her comments offer an insight into the advantages available to drivers who become part of a major Formula 1 development programme. While competitors in feeder series often rely on smaller teams with limited resources, Ferrari Driver Academy members can benefit from world-class facilities, specialist coaching and performance expertise developed at the highest level of motorsport.
Learning from one of Formula 1’s most successful organizations
Ferrari’s investment in young talent has produced several drivers who have progressed through the ranks of international motorsport. The academy provides access to physical training programmes, simulator work, engineering support and driver development tools that are difficult to match elsewhere.
For Alba Larsen, the opportunity to work in that environment appears to be having a significant impact.
“My team and I have always said that we need partners that make me fast and understand my mission, and Ferrari makes me fast because they improve my driving in so many different ways.”
The statement underlines an important aspect of modern driver development. Raw speed alone is rarely enough to succeed. Today’s young drivers must improve their physical preparation, technical understanding, data analysis skills and communication with engineers, all areas where Formula 1 organizations can provide valuable support.
Becoming part of the Ferrari family
Beyond the technical advantages, Alba Larsen also emphasized the sense of belonging she has experienced since joining Ferrari.
“I’m really proud to be part of their family, because it’s one big family and it’s such an iconic team and I cannot wait to make them proud!”
That feeling is often mentioned by drivers who have worked within Ferrari’s structure. The Maranello-based team is known not only for its racing heritage but also for the passion and culture that surround the Prancing Horse.
For a young driver, becoming associated with a brand that has produced legends like Michael Schumacher, Niki Lauda and Kimi Räikkönen can be both a privilege and a source of motivation.
A promising future ahead
As Alba Larsen continues her progression through the junior ranks, Ferrari’s support could prove to be a major asset in her long-term career. The path to Formula 1 remains extremely competitive, with talented drivers from around the world competing for a limited number of opportunities.
However, access to Ferrari’s facilities, expertise and development programmes gives the young Dane a strong platform from which to continue improving. While there is still a long road ahead, her enthusiasm for the project is clear.
For Ferrari, investing in young talent remains a key part of its future strategy. And for Alba Larsen, every visit to Maranello represents another opportunity to learn from some of the best minds in motorsport as she works toward achieving her racing ambitions.
