Four-time Formula One world champion and former Scuderia Ferrari driver Alain Prost was recently interviewed by Kicker, Germany’s leading football/sports magazine, as the current Renault special adviser also discussed about the Maranello team’s prospects for the 2019 Formula One season, which is scheduled to begin in less than three weeks in Australia.
“Ferrari is like the code word for uniqueness” – Alain Prost said, as reported by Kicker earlier today – “Nowhere else is the pressure so high, you feel that as a driver. They talk about Ferrari all over the world, everywhere they expect miracles from you. Calmness is rare. Add to this the Italian way in which the heart often wins over the mind. All of this has been known for decades, yet it is difficult to maintain concentration in this environment.” – added Alain Prost, when asked about why winning titles at Scuderia Ferrari seems to be a lot more difficult than anywhere else.
Regarding Sebastian Vettel and the German driver’s chanches of bringing the title back to Maranello, Alain Prost explained: “Sebastian Vettel is definitely one of the best drivers of the last decade, I see him almost as strong as Lewis Hamilton. If we think about the 2018 season, what he lacked in the end was the complete support of his team in certain difficult situations. But I am sure that he will get a new chance this year, he definitely has the class to use them.” – the retired French racing driver concluded.
