The drivers who finish on the podium at the 2026 Italian Grand Prix will receive one of Formula 1’s most distinctive trophies of the season. At Monza, the top three finishers and a representative of the winning team will celebrate Sunday’s race by lifting FRAGILE, an artwork created by the artistic duo vedovamazzei.
The trophy will form part of the celebrations at the 2026 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, continuing what has now become a tradition of producing a specially commissioned piece for the Formula 1 podium.
Monza’s FRAGILE trophy continues an Italian Grand Prix tradition
Each year, the Italian Grand Prix trophy is commissioned from Italian artists as part of a long-term project promoted by Pirelli, the title sponsor of the race, together with contemporary art museum Pirelli HangarBicocca. The initiative has now reached its sixth edition.
For 2026, responsibility for creating the trophy was given to vedovamazzei, the artistic duo formed by Stella Scala and Simeone Crispino. Their work combines irony with an ability to explore the contradictions and complexities of reality, often reinterpreting everyday objects to highlight the paradoxical aspects of the world around us.
The result is FRAGILE, a layered composition made up of familiar domestic objects, including cups and small bowls. Stacked on top of one another, these sculptural elements create a tall vertical form that deliberately appears precarious and unstable.
How the 2026 Italian GP trophy was created
The process combined traditional design methods with modern manufacturing technology. The project began with drawings and sketches transferred onto paper before moving to a highly technological production phase involving 3D printing with nylon powder.
Once printed, the material was painted, galvanised and polished until it achieved a reflective, mirror-like finish. The final object therefore combines the visual language of ordinary household items with the highly finished appearance expected from a trophy that will be presented on one of Formula 1’s most famous podiums.
Fans can follow the complete 2026 Italian GP schedule and Monza session times as the weekend builds towards Sunday’s race and the presentation of the new trophies.
Why the Monza trophy is called FRAGILE
Stella Scala and Simeone Crispino explained the concept behind the work: “The idea for the trophy began with a reflection on the concept of the celebratory cup as it was used in ancient times, when it served as a large drinking vessel, carrying a sense of celebration and shared festivity.”

The artists added: “We wanted to make the trophy the symbol of a victory that is physically held by an individual but reflects the state of mind of a community: in Formula 1, that means the team, the fans and the entire world surrounding the drivers. The composition also brings us back to an everyday dimension, to a repeated gesture that refers to the effort required for a victory achieved lap after lap and which never corresponds to an eternal and unchanging status. It is unstable, it lasts for a short time and then has to be won again. It is, precisely, fragile.”
Six years of artist-designed trophies at Monza
The commission awarded to vedovamazzei continues a project that has brought a different artistic interpretation to the Italian Grand Prix podium each year. Previous editions were created by Alice Ronchi in 2021, Patrick Tuttofuoco in 2022, Ruth Beraha in 2023, Andrea Sala in 2024 and Nico Vascellari in 2025.
The 2026 edition therefore becomes the sixth work in the series, with FRAGILE combining Formula 1’s traditional celebration of victory with an artistic reflection on how difficult success is to achieve and how quickly it must be pursued again.
