
Ferrari takes 40 points from Silverstone to reduce the gap to Mercedes
Ferrari enjoyed one of its strongest weekends of the 2026 Formula 1 season at the British Grand Prix, leaving Silverstone with an impressive 40-point haul thanks to Charles Leclerc’s victory and Lewis Hamilton’s third-place finish.
Although Mercedes remains at the top of the Constructors’ Championship, Ferrari significantly reduced the deficit with another highly competitive performance, continuing to build momentum as the title fight enters a crucial phase of the season.
George Russell’s second-place finish ensured Mercedes still scored valuable points, allowing the reigning championship leaders to maintain first place with 333 points. Ferrari now sits second on 255 points, while McLaren remains third with 179.
Further down the standings, Racing Bulls enjoyed another productive weekend, moving to within just one point of Alpine in the battle for fifth place. Meanwhile, Audi finally opened its account after a long wait, with Gabriel Bortoleto’s eighth-place finish delivering the team’s first Constructors’ Championship points of the season.
