For Italian fans it is time to think about the upcoming weekend: from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 September 2022, Formula 1 will be on stage at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza for the Italian Grand Prix, the sixteenth round of the 2022 F1 world championship. An event, this year, characterized by a ‘special effect’ linked to the history of the Italian track, which officially celebrates its centenary.
Apart from the emotions that the circuit will offer once the F1 racing cars hit the track on Friday, there will also be the usual and numerous events surrounding the F1 weekend, many of which are designed to celebrate the Temple of Seed’s triple digit birthday in the best possible way. Below, divided by various points of the city of Monza, there is the complete guide of the times for all the initiatives, concerts, exhibitions and other entertainment events scheduled to take place, also designed for non-F1 fans. It begins with the expected football match on Wednesday evening at the U-Power Stadium in Monza – formerly Brianteo – between the Singers National team and the Charity Team for the ‘Partita del Cuore’, with all income being donated in support of research and care for diseases such as Alzheimer’s and leukemia in children. From Thursday 8 September, however, there will be more entertainment of all kind. Among the Monza points chosen to entertain the public there will be Largo Mazzini, home, only for the date of Thursday, of the ‘100 Trees’ project: an idea, desired by Confcommercio and Ersaf Lombardia aimed at planting of 100 trees in the Monza Park.
On the other hand, the appointments scheduled in Piazza Trento and Trieste for all four days, from Thursday to Sunday included, are many. In addition to the talk show dedicated to Ivan Capelli’s competitive and journalistic career and to women in motorsport, Monza teams from various sports that have distinguished themselves nationally and internationally will be presented to the public. Furthermore, on Saturday and Sunday, it will be possible to attend the qualifying and the competition from the maxi-screens, followed by concerts and musical or dance performances. Also curious is the ‘function’ of Via Arosio, reserved for poems and performances by young talents belonging to the Talent Yard association.
Families with children should not miss the initiatives that will take place in Piazza Roma, open to games and animations, as well as a road education course organized by the State Police. For lovers of engines, however, a visit to Via Vittorio Emanuele II cannot be missed, where an exhibition of historic cars and Vespa models will be presented on Saturday and Sunday. In an event like the Italian GP, the opportunity to go to the street food area, located in Piazza Cambiaghi and in the Boschetti Reali, also home to the Deejay Set, should not be missed. Alongside this, we also note the presence of the Arma dei Carabinieri in Piazza Duomo, as well as other concerts of musical high schools from Monza in Piazza Carrobiolo, as well as musicals and theatrical performances in Via d’Annunzio. Finally, on a cultural level, the gates of the Civil Museums will be opened from Thursday for the exhibition “Autodromo 100. Chronicles of a construction, paintings of an evolution”.
