In spite of how Red Bull and Mercedes dominate the races, there have been many legendary races that have taken place over the last decade. There have been Championship matches, rivalries, rain soaked pandemonium that has made the last decade of races something to remember.
However, we have to consider what the best F1 races of the last ten years have been.
While not everyone is hot to bet on F1 racing, plenty of people want to keep a close eye on sports betting odds for Formula 1, it can be pretty hot betting action when it gets down to it, especially with some of the names that have been in the game these last 10 years.
But, with all this in mind, let’s consider which races really got us excited, and had the best action over the last decade?
#1. Grand Prix Singapore: 2017
The 2017 Singapore Grand mix conjured up quite a bit of drama. Hamilton entered it with a very sleek 3-point margin over Vettel in the championship standings. It looked like he was going to lose his lead when he was only able to qualify 5th on the grid as Vettel stormed to pole for Ferrari.
Hamilton said he seemed to need a miracle to have any luck in turning things around on the Sunday, but when he got one, the skies let loose which led to one of the first wet night races ever seen in Singapore.
It led to one of the most dramatic start offs in any F1 race ever seen, as Verstappen, Raikkonen, and Vettel, all piled up like a very aggressive three tiered car cake, thanks to the damp conditions.
#2. Bahrain Grand Prix: 2014
Then in 2014 there was the Bahrain Grand Prix, this was another historical moment that goes down in history as one of the most intense wheel on wheel craps for a victory as Hamilton and Rosberg fought it out underneath the light in the first night time race to be held at Sakhir.
It was an incredible battle, one which began when Hamilton took over Rosborg in the first turn as he made the best start. But, Rosberg was feeling salty, and he came back at Hamilton a few times over the course of the race, but he never got past as Hamilton held his ground.
However, Rosberg initially edged back in front, during his first lap attacking on Lap 18, he dove down on the inside at the first turn. However, Hamilton was having none of it, and he fell into a sweet switchback maneuver at the 4th.
Rosberg had gone for soft tires. Hamilton had a 10-second lead which quickly dissipated, as both needed to bring the car home in a single piece before the restart. But, Hamilton had medium tires, which saw Hamilton to a disadvantage.
Both drivers defied the orders they were given about their engine mode usage to get more power.
#3. German Grand Prix: 2019
Only 12 months after the insane 2018 race held at Hockenheim, this race caused utter havoc thanks to very wet conditions.
Mercedes were celebrating their 125th year of competing in motorsports with a one over livery, and they took pole position, which was thanks to Hamilton’s brilliant lap in the qualifications.
However, rain before the race led to a delay as F1 was testing out their need of wet-weather starting proceedings, as all 20 drivers started on full wet as the race was decreased to 64 laps.
A slow beginning from Verstappen allowed Mercedes to get clear into an early 1 to 2 as Alfa Romeos Raikkonen went into 3rd.
Yet, the race went all wobbly on the 29th lap when Leclerc hit the wall on the drag strip at the penultimate dorner. However, this happened just as Hamilton also went skating off and damaged the front wing as he was on his way into the pits with a second Safety Car out.
It didn’t end there though, Hulkenberg smashed out at the last corner, when he was in a good position just as Verstappen went into the lead.
When slicks were switched, Bottas threw away a truly wonderful opening to get back his deficit to Hamilton as he tried to obliterate himself at the second turn.
#4. Brazilian Grand Prix: 2016
Another example of how well wet conditions and F1 cars go together, was at this race. Hamilton had turned on his wet-weather with a faultless drive to soar to the winning of his first ever Brazilian Grand Prix.
Verstappen was the real star though, as he got 3rd behind the double Merc winners.
Verstappen had already made some epic passes at this point, in spite of the conditions being more ideal for dolphins than F1. Yet, a strategy mistake with Red Bull did mean he had to make a call to the pits when he had less than 20 laps left to go in full wet weather tires, which had him down to 14th.
Nonetheless, he sped his way through the field like it was nothing, eventually taking 3rd in the 3-hour long teeth-grinding epic.
On that day, both Rosberg and Verstappen both survived very sketchy aquaplaning as they came up the hill off the last corner, making their cars go sideways in a fairly scary sweep. Raikkonen and Ericsson were less lucky as Raikkonen caused a red flag as he turned the track into a Madeira cake of car and wall.
