Charles Leclerc returned to Monaco after the victory in the Italian Grand Prix at the Monza circuit and was filmed giving a tip that many considered too low.
As he waits to get back on track in Baku, where Formula 1 will race on September 15, the Ferrari driver is relaxing at home. And, as often happens, he found many fans outside his house looking for an autograph or a photo.
There is one video, in particular, that has gone viral on social media and is causing debate in the last few hours. The Monegasque was filmed walking to his car and then giving a 20-euro tip to his valet to thank him. As always, social media users are divided, with some defending him and others accusing him of being stingy.
“Why can’t someone be rich and stingy? Why should he give a large tip when they already have their salary? It’s like going into a clothing store and leaving a tip for the cashier,” commented one user on X, taking Charles Leclerc’s side.
“You’re a millionaire, why leave just 20 euros?” someone else wrote, labeling him.
A fan of his, however, pointed out how filming someone’s wallet was an invasion of privacy: “Instead of debating the tip Charles leaves, why don’t we talk about the fact that filming inside his wallet is quite… too much?” she wrote, also on X.
Controversy aside, with Sunday’s victory in the Italian Grand Prix at the Monza circuit, Charles Leclerc has gained more points in the drivers’ standings and, most importantly, has helped Ferrari get back in the fight for the constructors’ title.
