Former Haas team principal Günther Steiner has shared his thoughts on Oliver Bearman’s future prospects in Formula 1, evaluating his potential moves between Ferrari and other top teams. Ollie Bearman is putting together a series of impressive results that have not gone unnoticed. In recent rounds, the young Haas driver has been linked with several Formula 1 teams, including Ferrari. As a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, many see him as a natural future driver for the team from Maranello. Speaking on the latest episode of The Red Flags Podcast, Steiner focused on the young Briton’s most recent performances.
In Mexico and Brazil, Oliver Bearman secured a fourth-place finish and a fifth-place finish. During the Mexican round, Ollie Bearman also managed to hold off the charge of one of the contenders for the world championship, Oscar Piastri.
A future in red?
During the podcast, former Haas boss Günther Steiner expressed his full admiration for Oliver Bearman and suggested that Ferrari should consider him for a seat in the 2027 Formula 1 season. He stated: “If Hamilton does not perform next year, they should replace him. Ollie [Bearman] is doing a fantastic job. Now he is showing his worth.” After a few errors early in the season that placed him at risk of suspension due to the penalty points accumulated on his licence, Bearman now seems to be experiencing his best form. Steiner added: “At the beginning of the year he made some mistakes. Now he is the cleanest you can find. I mean, he sweeps away Esteban Ocon, who is obviously a more experienced driver, paid much more I think, and he leaves him behind.”
However, Ferrari may not be the only team interested in Oliver Bearman. Steiner continued: “I think that if Ferrari does not give him a seat in 2027, I believe he will still get a place in one of the top teams in 2027. He will not stay in the midfield. That is my opinion, because he is showing what he can do. I mean, his driving is so solid at the moment, it is fantastic to watch.”
