The Friday of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix did not bring great news for the Ferrari’s Spanish driver. During the late Italian morning, news came from the paddock about Carlos Sainz’s withdrawal. The Maranello team communicated the official news through their channels, announcing the operation on the appendix for the Madrid-born driver.

From free practice 3, Oliver Bearman, a young talent from the Ferrari Driver Academy, took the place of #55. The 18-year-old Briton got into the SF-24 at the beginning of FP3, preparing for qualifying and the race in a single session hour.

Carlos Sainz will watch the actions of the Jeddah GP on television. Hospitalized, the Spaniard has already undergone the operation, successfully concluded by the medical team.

After the operation, in the coming days Carlos Sainz will start a rehabilitation process. The question many are asking is about the possibility of seeing the Spaniard back behind the wheel of the Ferrari in Australia.

Formula 1 will race in Melbourne two weeks after the Jeddah weekend. Fred Vasseur gave some words on the matter at the end of the Saudi qualifiers. However, the man from the Prancing Horse did not have a certain answer: “The operation was completed in the early afternoon, it went well,” he began.

Whether he will return to his SF-24 in Australia is not yet known: “It is too early to draw up a schedule, we will meet with the surgeon at the beginning of next week. After the meeting, we will make a decision.”

“The most important thing is his recovery, we must not rush things,” Fred Vasseur explained. “Obviously, I would be happy to have him back in the car as soon as possible, but the important thing is Carlos, not the race.” – the French manager concluded.
