After two races in two weeks, the Belgian Grand Prix and the Dutch Grand Prix, Scuderia Ferrari is now focused on the last event of this triple-header, as the Maranello team will attempt to redeem itself in front of the Tifosi after the disappointing outcome of the 2020 Formula 1 season at Monza.
However, the Monza track is above all speed on the straights, which the Italian side will attempt to find mostly as a result of an unloaded set-up that allows the teams to generate little aerodynamic resistance but above all with a powerful power unit.
The power of the Ferrari engine is still one of the weaknesses of the SF21 package, although the recovery as compared to last year is clear, but there is also more to take into consideration in Monza.
Ferrari is very confident in two technical opportunities such as braking and changing direction that can be capitalized in order to gain a few tenths on the overall Monza lap: plus a third, not directly nominated by the team principal of the Italian team in his preview of the next round, which the many traction phases.
Monza is certainly a more favorable track for McLaren, but arriving here 11.5 points clear of the ‘orange’ team takes the pressure off.
That pressure that in some races did not allow the Italian team to maximize the result. It is as if, especially in the most favorable appointments, the pressure of having to stay ahead of McLaren leads the team to make more conservative and less aggressive choices, including set-up. While in events like Silverstone, where the SF21 had little to lose considering the type of circuit, they found that little bit extra in order to be able to extract 100% from the SF21 car.
