Despite the fact that this weekend Scuderia Ferrari will race in front of its home crowd, both the tifosi and the Ferrari fans don’t seem to be expecting too much from this year’s Italian Grand Prix. Even driver Charles Leclerc is doing his best to temper the expectations.
While Charles Leclerc scored an amazing victory at Monza two years ago, he is pretty sure that something like that won’t happen this year in normal circumstances. “But I think this year will be a bit more difficult”, he said, as reported by Formula1.com.
“Of course, we did some progress since last year so it should be a better race in comparison to last year”, said the Monegasque. In 2020, neither Charles Leclerc nor Sebastian Vettel managed to finished the Italian Grand Prix, which was surprisingly won by Pierre Gasly.
The Monegasque driver does see opportunities in the sprint race on Saturday. He hopes to find an advantage for his team in the predicted chaos. “It is also a weekend where we have the Sprint Qualifying” – Charles Leclerc added – “So hopefully we can take advantage of that and have a good weekend anyway. But on paper let’s say it’s going to be difficult.” – the Scuderia Ferrari driver concluded.
