The Free Practice 1 session of the Bahrain GP will undergo slight changes due to the many rookies replacing one of the regular drivers: Browning in place of Carlos Sainz, Dino Drugovich in place of Fernando Alonso, Iwasa in place of Verstappen, and so on. The same applies to Charles Leclerc, who will hand over his Ferrari to Dino Beganovic. Let’s find out who he is.
The 2004-born driver races under a Swedish license, although he clearly has Balkan origins. Dino Beganovic is currently competing in the Formula 2 championship, which he joined in 2025 with the Hitech Grand Prix team. But his racing career began much earlier.
After his karting phase, the Swede moved to Formula 4 in 2020, securing six podiums in total, including one victory. In the same year, he was selected by the Maranello team to join the Ferrari Driver Academy. The following year, he competed in the FRECA championship with the Prema team, earning one pole and one podium.
In 2022 he had his best season, achieving four victories and four pole positions. As a result, he was promoted to F3, where he continued to collect strong results, with a total of eight podiums, two victories, and one pole position.
Now, for the first time, Dino Beganovic will get behind the wheel of Charles Leclerc’s SF-25 during FP1 in Bahrain. It will be an extremely important opportunity for the 2004-born driver, both to showcase his potential and to help the team collect crucial data at a time when the Scuderia is struggling to perform well.
“For me it’s truly emotional”
“For me, it’s a dream come true,” said the driver. “Many people dream of driving a Ferrari, and it’s incredibly exciting for me to have the opportunity to do so. I know that my goal of one day becoming a Scuderia Ferrari HP driver is very ambitious, but I’ll do everything I can to achieve this dream.”
“That starts with making the most of the path I’m taking in the junior categories, and I’m currently racing in Formula 2 with Hitech Grand Prix. The support of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy is essential for growing as a driver, and it’s wonderful to have this opportunity next Friday. I can’t wait. I’ll try to enjoy it as much as possible, and also do my best to help the engineers with their work.”
