The FIA has confirmed the zones where it will be possible to use the DRS system in the 2021 British Grand Prix, the tenth round of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship.
After the impressive double victory conquered by Max Verstappen in the Grand Prix of Styria and Austria, teams and drivers will return to battle on the always spectacular and technical English track, this year confirmed with the audience capacity at 100% (similar to the Austrian event two weeks ago).
The race commission, for the weekend, has chosen to activate two DRS zones, which will be positioned on Hangar Straight (from turn 14 to turn 15) and on Wellington Straight (straight leading from 6 to 7). The zones, of course, will have two different activation points: the first will be placed before turn 3, while the second will be placed immediately after 10 (the first “fold” of the Becketts).
The weekend program totally changes as compared to the usual format: the first session of free practice is scheduled at 15.30, while the first qualifying will take place the same afternoon at 17.30. On Saturday morning at 13.00 the drivers will have the opportunity to take to the track for another free practice session before the “Sprint Race” at 17.00. Sunday, at 16.00, the actual start of the GP. In case of rain, the weekend format will be brought back to the classic one with three sessions, qualifying and race on Sunday.
