The 70th Anniversary GP is up next and it will be the first Formula 1 race that does not have a geographical name. It will be the 1,023rd World Championship Formula 1 Grand Prix, the 75th round to be held in Great Britain and the 55th F1 race held at Silverstone.
This will be the first time that Formula 1 has held two races in the United Kingdom in a single season since 1993, when Silverstone played host to the British Grand Prix and Donington Park hosted the European Grand Prix. It will be only the seventh time in F1 history that a country has hosted two consecutive races and the second time that the same track has hosted two consecutive races.
70th Anniversary GP weather forecast (Weather Info Silverstone):
From the Formula 1 teams’ point of view, different weather conditions can result in very different races, and Formula 1 teams adapt their strategy accordingly, for example using different tyres in wet conditions, and taking account of cross winds which can cause stability problems at high speeds. It is always well worth checking the weather before any grand prix as it can often throw a curve ball into the mix, although this time Silverstone will most likely be a straightforward weekend. Just like 7 days ago when the first race took place, conditions appear excellent ahead of the 2020 Formula 1 70th Anniversary Grand Prix weekend. The temperature for race day is expected to be around 22-23 degrees, while according to the latest forecast, there is no chance of rain for Friday and Saturday. A thuderstorm may be around the area on Sunday but it is not expected to affect the race. However, the temperatures for Friday should once again be a lot higher, which means that managing the tyres on race-day could prove different than what the data will show during the free practice sessions, especially given the fact that Pirelli will bring softer compounds for the second race at Silverstone.
