An official Ferrari Grand Prix drivers’ simulator, which was utilized by former Ferrari driver Michael Schumacher during his final season with the Maranello team in 2006, will be showcased at a prominent antiques fair in just a few days.
This simulator played a pivotal role in Ferrari’s driver preparation for the diverse Formula One circuits during the 2006 season, which marked Schumacher’s last year driving for the Scuderia.
Michael Schumacher, a Formula One and Scuderia Ferrari legend, holds the joint-record of seven World Drivers’ Championship titles (shared with current Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton). Upon his retirement from the sport more than a decade ago, he held records for the highest number of victories, pole positions, and podium finishes.
The cherished Formula 1 memorabilia will be featured at the Timeless event, hosted by the Irish Antique Dealers’ Fair, returning to Dublin’s RDS on September 15. Subsequently, the simulator will be offered at auction in the coming months.
Antiques dealer Niall Mullen is proudly presenting this extraordinary piece at the South Dublin event, providing Grand Prix enthusiasts with a rare chance to closely examine a significant part of Formula 1 history.
“This is a fantastic piece of official Ferrari equipment and would have been used by the great German ace and his team-mate Felipe Massa,” he pointed out – “The working simulator, which originally cost in excess of 60,000 euros, features a force-feedback steering wheel and is loaded with all the F1 circuits from the time and a number of international tracks used for testing. It will feature in an auction of celebrity items due to be held in the coming months, but I really wanted the public to be able to see this while they experience all the other fantastic items at Ireland’s largest selection of classic pieces that stand the test of time.”
The special event will also spotlight a range of other noteworthy items. This includes a scarce first edition Memphis Milano Carlton bookcase, a favorite of David Bowie, making its debut in Ireland under the care of Acquired. These Carlton bookcases, valued at 17,000 euros, were part of the collections of iconic figures in the worlds of rock and fashion, including Bowie and Karl Lagerfeld.

Among the unique designs featured at the fair is a 400-year-old diamond ring with a remarkable history of traversing the Silk Road. This historic ring, valued at 3,950 euros, predates the modern era of mining and features uncut stones, naturally weathered and polished by the earth. These diamonds would have been transported to England via the ancient Silk Road trade route, as established shipping routes were not available at the time.
