In anticipation of its global premiere scheduled for August 31st at the Venice International Film Festival, the initial trailer for Michael Mann’s highly anticipated movie “Ferrari” has been unveiled.
The film plunges into the tumultuous life of Enzo Ferrari, brought to life by Adam Driver, as he navigates through both professional and personal crises during the summer of 1957. Rooted in true events, the movie delves into how Ferrari’s factory, constructed alongside his wife Laura (portrayed by Penélope Cruz), teeters on the edge of financial collapse. The couple also grapples with the emotional aftermath of losing their son Dino the preceding year. Yet, Enzo envisions a potential rescue through the high-stakes, 1,000-mile race known as the Mille Miglia.
The supporting ensemble features Shailene Woodley embracing the role of Lina Lardi, while Sarah Gadon portrays Linda Christian, and Patrick Dempsey embodies Piero Taruffi. Gabriel Leone and Jack O’Connell also make appearances as Alfonso de Portago and Peter Collins.
This film marks Mann’s return to the big screen since his 2015 techno-thriller “Blackhat,” which didn’t receive the same acclaim as his earlier works. Most recently, the director teamed up with celebrated thriller author Meg Gardiner for the New York Times best-selling novel “Heat 2,” serving as both a prequel and sequel to his seminal 1995 film.
The director previously revealed that his fascination with recounting the Ferrari narrative was ignited more than three decades ago, sparked by a chance encounter with one of the cars that completely captivated him. Over the years, he has been deeply immersed in what he described as the “captivating tale of Ferrari.”
“Ferrari” is scheduled for a cinematic release in the UK on December 26th, following its debut at the Venice International Film Festival on August 31st.
