With Carlos Sainz in third place and Charles Leclerc only sixth in the 2022 Belgian Grand Prix, Scuderia Ferrari has suffered an important setback that pushes the Monegasque behind Red Bull’s Sergio Perez in the drivers championship with a gap to Max Verstappen up to 98 points.
Searching for a plausible reason for the tyre degradation, the set-up change imposed by the TD 039 directive, that from Belgium provides a higher ride-height verified by the sensors put inside the skid block of the floor, has been excluded. If on one side it’s surprising that engineers have no answer to such a relevant lack of performance, on the other one the drivers are precise in their indications on car’s behaviour on different compounds in the race.
