Ferrari F2003-GA propelled Michael Schumacher directly into legend-hood after the last race of the 2003 Formula One season: at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan, Rubens Barrichello won for the Maranello team, while his Maranello teammate finished eighth, which was enough for the German driver to finish the season on top with just two points in the overall Drivers’ championship standings over runner-up Kimi Räikkönen (McLaren–Mercedes).
The Ferrari 2003-GA challenger secured five of a total of six wins for Michael Schumacher during the 2003 Formula 1 campaign, with the car making its debut mid-season and not at the start of the championship. With 930 bhp (943 PS) at 19,000 RPM, the 3.0L V10-powered 1,323 lb (600 kg) missile put Ferrari’s Michael Schumacher right above five-time champion Juan Manuel Fangio in the Formula One hall of fame, with a sixth world title (Michael’s fourth consecutive for the Maranello team).
In this video, Mick Schumacher, Michael’s son, drives the 2003 Ferrari Formula 1 title-winning car and shares his thoughts about the car’s performance:
