With just 11 minutes remaining in the opening free practice session for the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton experienced a significant setback. The seven-time world champion locked up his brakes hard into one of the circuit’s tricky corners, causing him to run wide off the track. This off-track moment not only compromised his lap but also ruined the set of tyres he was using, forcing him to return to the pits early to switch to fresh rubber.
Sky Sports F1 expert Anthony Davidson commented on the incident, saying: “That was a long old lockup! When you see a driver locking up that hard, that’s because they think they will crash.” This highlights the difficulty Hamilton is currently facing to find the right balance with his Ferrari on the demanding Hungaroring circuit.
