Ferrari faced intense frustration when Carlos Sainz’s car suffered damage in the initial practice session of the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The incident occurred when Carlos Sainz collided with a dislodged manhole cover, leading to the abandonment of the session after only nine minutes of racing.
Following the impact with the cover, Sainz experienced a vehicle stoppage, prompting the display of a red flag and causing damage to the front of his car. Despite some delays, organizers eventually declared that the session would not resume. In a news conference marked by evident displeasure and the use of strong language, Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur emphatically stated that Sainz would not participate in the second session.
