Ferrari has introduced an exclusive model, the 499P Modificata, tailored for non-competitive track usage, signifying their return to top-tier endurance racing in 2023. This unique automobile is a modified iteration of the 499P, which secured victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, and its primary objective is to redefine the exhilaration of track driving.
In contrast to typical racing cars, the 499P Modificata isn’t constructed for competitive events. This freedom empowers Ferrari to implement adjustments that are typically constrained by Le Mans regulations. One substantial modification involves the front axle’s electric motor, which now operates effectively at lower speeds, enhancing the vehicle’s all-wheel-drive capabilities significantly.
An attention-worthy inclusion is the “Push to Pass” functionality. By simply pressing a button on the steering wheel, the driver can access an additional 161 horsepower for seven seconds when the accelerator is fully engaged, momentarily elevating the power output from the standard 697 horsepower to an impressive 858 horsepower.
Furthermore, Ferrari has made various minor refinements to the Modificata. These encompass improvements to the engine and drivability maps, as well as updates to the traction control and launch-assist systems.
Beneath the hood lies a mid-mounted 3.0-liter V6 engine, derived from the 296 GT3 race car. What sets it apart is its integration into the car’s structure, as opposed to being mounted on a separate subframe. Power is transferred to the wheels through a seven-speed sequential gearbox.
Within the Modificata, the interior mirrors the design of a Le Mans racer, featuring a single-seat configuration meticulously designed for optimum ergonomics.
Ferrari has also introduced the Sport Prototipi Clienti program in conjunction with the 499P Modificata. This initiative encompasses logistical support, on-site assistance, and maintenance services, ensuring that customers can savor their track experience without any hassle.
While Ferrari has not disclosed specific details regarding production numbers or pricing for the 499P Modificata, it’s evident that owning a modified Le Mans champion will come at a substantial cost. Nevertheless, for enthusiasts in pursuit of the ultimate track-day adventure, this extraordinary vehicle is poised to deliver unparalleled excitement.
