Vettel: “We should have beaten Red Bull”. Sebastian looks back to the 2016 season.

German driver Sebastian Vettel did not hesitate to admit being very disappointment for the fact that Scuderia Ferrari din not manage to finish the season ahead of Red Bull in the overall standings, as the Italiam team eventually lost the fight for the second place in the Constructors’ Championship.

Furthermore, Sebastian has expressed his frustration after a season in which Ferrari were not able to reduce the performance deficit from Mercedes, who again dominated the season, as the Scuderia did not manage to win a single race iduring the 2016 Championship. Sebastian is sure that Ferrari had a huge potential at the beginning of the season and the car was much better than the Austrian-based outfit, but Ferrari was not able to maximize the potential of the SF16-H: “It has been up and down for us this year – not as good as everybody expected and it definitely could have been much, much better.” – admited Vettel, as reported by the Italian press.

“Points-wise we did not manage to score enough at the beginning of the year and that cost us a lot. Towards the end, we found ourselves in a very tight battle with Red Bull. But overall I am sure that we had a stronger package and we should have finished second in the constructors Championship. Also, we were not able to really fight with Mercedes and that is the biggest disappointment as far as I am concerned.” – concluded Sebastian Vettel, although the German driver is still confident in Ferrari’s prospects for next year: “A lot of things have happened in the last few months, which may not have been visible from the outside, but I am sure that these changes will help us and make our team a lot stronger for next season. As always, everything will be decided on the track, but I am confident we can do a lot better.”
