At the checkered flag of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix qualifying session, Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc is in third place. However, he is immediately threatened with a possible penalty due to impeding Lando Norris during Q3. But Frederic Vasseur isn’t accepting it and defends the Ferrari driver.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the team principal of the Maranello team wanted to defend the Monegasque driver. Frederic Vasseur intervened and responded to Federica Masolin’s question: “We quickly saw the incident at the end of the session,” he began.
According to the Frenchman, the incident is far from straightforward: “It’s not simple, the trajectory is not clear in that part of the track.” Moreover, another factor in Charles Leclerc’s defense, according to Frederic Vasseur, is visibility: “Furthermore, it’s even more complicated because it’s completely dark in the tunnel.” – he explained.
The head of the Prancing Horse team continued to explain the misunderstanding between #16 and the British McLaren driver: “It was a misunderstanding because Charles was on the left. Lando expected him to go to the right. But clearly, that’s not the racing line,” he concluded, defending Charles Leclerc at the end of the qualifying session for the Monaco Grand Prix.
