Lewis Hamilton – Charles Leclerc: the future at Ferrari
Lewis Hamilton’s victory in last weekend’s British Grand Prix at the Silverstone ended the seven-time world champion’s long dry spell of wins, and from next Formula 1 season, he will be wearing Ferrari colors. An agreement reached with the Prancing Horse last February will bring him to Maranello as Charles Leclerc’s new teammate, with many fans already imagining the potential coexistence between the two.
A relationship that, according to many, could create some tension within the team, as often happens between two drivers aiming for victory and leadership as the primary goal in a top team. Meanwhile, as the current season approaches its second half, the first pieces of advice for Ferrari’s Monegasque driver have come from someone who knows #44 very well, having been his teammate from 2017 to 2021 during a highly successful period for Mercedes: Valtteri Bottas.
Valtteri Bottas’ opinions
As a guest on the podcast “Nailing the Apex,” the Finn first described the personality of the seven-time world champion, reassuring Charles Leclerc at least in this regard: “When he gets to know Lewis, I am sure he will have a lot of respect for him – he said – he is a very kind person, can be a good teammate, and bring a lot to the team. Charles will also learn that Lewis is extremely fast and consistent, rarely making mistakes.” – he pointed out.
From a technical point of view, however, Valtteri Bottas did not want to go into detail about the qualities of the former McLaren driver, but he expressed a rather clear opinion: “I don’t need to give any advice to Charles, he is a driver who already has a lot of experience in Formula 1 – he added – I think he and Lewis will be good teammates, but I am sure that Lewis will give him a hard time, no doubt about it.” – the former Mercedes driver concluded.
