It has only been a week since the official announcement of Lewis Hamilton’s move to Scuderia Ferrari starting with the 2025 Formula 1 campaign, with the Briton bidding farewell to the Brackley team after 12 years at Mercedes to start working in Maranello.
Describing the collaboration with Toto Wolff’s team as prolific would be an understatement: they secured 6 driver titles, complemented by Constructors’ Championships dominated from the beginning of the hybrid era in 2014 until 2021. Valtteri Bottas, who has experienced firsthand what it means to share the garage with Lewis Hamilton, has been part of this dominance.
Ferrari on top, Valtteri Bottas: “If there’s anyone who can do it, it’s Lewis”
On the occasion of the Sauber C44 launch, the Finn was asked about Lewis Hamilton’s transfer to Maranello happening in 2025: “I was convinced he would stay at Mercedes, but this is Formula 1. He made an important decision, and I think it’s good for him.” – the former Mercedes driver pointed out.
What many wonder is whether the seven-time World Champion will succeed where even Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel have failed in the last 15 years: bringing a title back to the Scuderia, which has been missing since 2007. In this regard, Valtteri Bottas seems to have few doubts: “Lewis has great experience in this sport. I believe there won’t be any problems; it will take him a few races to settle in best. Reaching the top with Ferrari? If there’s anyone capable of doing it, that’s Lewis.” – the Finnish driver concluded.
