Italian blogger Leo Turrini, who is famously very close to proceedings at Ferrari, reflects on Scuderia Ferrari’s current difficult situation and disappointing result at the Belgian Grand Prix, in a post published on his quotidiano.net blog:
“Losing hurts everywhere, yet the Prancing Horse is a symbol of emotion, so you can easily understand the psychological discomfort of those who already know that on the Italian asphalt, there will be no roses and flowers under the wheels of the disgraceful SF1000. In the usual exchange of views on Monday, President Elkann, CEO Camilleri and Team Principal Mattia Binotto sadly agreed on one thing: this is the worst time for Ferrari to show up at Monza and Mugello.” – Leo Turrini said.
“In Maranello they explain to me that the awareness of not being able to fight for victory currently, must not be mistaken by giving up. They say the sarcasm of Toto Wolff does not go unnoticed but in the end it makes no sense to answer him when you get beaten on track.” – he added.
“In the meantime, the future is already here, which will be without Vettel. Poor Seb. It is difficult to imagine a sadder conclusion for his six-season partnership with Ferrari. Only two legends ( Michael Schumacher and Niki Lauda) have won with Ferrari more than Sebastian. Yet, the accounts do not add up. The car of 2020 is a disaster and another confirmation has arrived from Belgium. Around the corner there are the appointments of Monza and Mugello, symbolic events: it is a pity that they arrive at what is perhaps the worst moment in the history of the Lady in Red of Formula One. When a party turns into a nightmare.”
