Let’s take a look at the top speed for each lap and the average speed in the 2023 Formula 1 Austrian Sprint race at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg:
Top speeds – Sprint. Key observations:
Alex Albon was quickest again, completing a Williams 1-2: that car has impressively low drag! It will be hard to overtake Albon in the Austrian Grand Prix. It’s very impressive that Williams was able to be quickest.
Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc reached 324km/h thanks to his SF-23 low-drag rear wing + frequent DRS: he will have the speed to fight today, hopefully a good start for Charles and Carlos.
Sergio Perez was last: just 303kmh
Carlos Sainz showed the SF-23 car’s representative pace, Charles Leclerc simply struggled to make the tyres/car work in the sprint given the mixed track conditions.
