The 2022 Formula One season had started so positively for the Ferrari team. Wins for main driver Charles Leclerc in Bahrain and Australia put the Scuderia into an early lead in both the Drivers and Constructors Championship.
In between those two successes, reigning drivers’ champion Max Verstappen had taken the chequered flag for Red Bull in Saudi Arabia. The signs were that these were the teams to watch this year and that both Red Bull and Ferrari might contribute to one of the tightest F1 campaigns ever.
Since that point, the Red Bull team have pulled ahead with five straight GP wins. A gap is opening but there’s a long way to go and there are some key events where the Ferrari team will fancy their chances of getting back in touch.
As it Stands
Following the end of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Max Verstappen was enjoying a 21-point lead over his teammate Sergio Perez. Down in third place, a further 13 points adrift, Charles Leclerc was looking to make up ground.
Ferrari’s number two pilot, Carlos Sainz Jr., was in fifth place, behind Mercedes’ George Russell. Switching to the Constructors’ Championship and the Scuderia’s early lead has been vanquished. Red Bull now lead the way with 279 points with Ferrari some way back on 199.
The shift in momentum has had an effect on the betting markets for both main categories. In the Drivers’ Championship option, Max Verstappen is now a clear favourite, according to the best sports betting sites in India and beyond, as sourced by Asiabet. Charles Leclerc then follows as the second favourite before a gap opens up to Sergio Perez.
In the Constructors Championship equivalent, Red Bull are pulling away while Ferrari start to slip in second place. Mercedes are a distant third favourite so the good news is that the sportsbooks are expecting a straight fight between the top two.
As the F1 season continues, Asiabet will update their markets and readers can take their time to assess any new odds. News articles and blog posts will appear, and the website also reviews the sportsbooks that it links out to.
If anyone wants to get directly involved, all of those sports betting operators are willing to take on new customers. In exchange for completing a fast and secure sign up form. It’s likely that there will be an opening promotion to take advantage of.
A set of deposit and withdrawal options are in place to take care of the necessary finances. Friendly customer services can help at any point while other benefits may include mobile betting via an app, in-play markets and a choice of additional sports.
This is a useful site to follow in terms of F1 betting but are those projections for Ferrari and their drivers going to be proved correct?
Leclerc’s History of Success
Of course, Ferrari will look to be competitive in all of the remaining Formula One races but some tracks will be a greater target than others. It could be that the drivers have enjoyed previous success on the surfaces or that the tracks are more conducive to the Ferrari approach.
Prior to his two GP wins in 2022, Charles Leclerc had taken the chequered flag in Belgium and Italy. Those two races will take place in mid-season and are up there for Ferrari’s top man to target. There are no guarantees of course but previous wins can offer a good indication of positive results moving forward.
In Sainz’s Sights
Ferrari’s number two driver Carlos Sainz Jr. is still waiting for his first Grand Prix victory but he does have ten podium finishes to his name.
Four of those top three finishes have come this season but what about his previous podiums? In 2021, Sainz got to spray the champagne in Monaco, Hungary, Russia and Abu Dhabi. Monaco has passed while Russia is off the calendar but perhaps there is room for optimism in Hungary and Abu Dhabi.
Ferrari will want to improve performances in all Grand Prix for the remainder of the season, but it is interesting to look at past successes and hope that those trends can make a difference in 2022.
