Back on track
The Formula 1 Circus, which rightfully halted last Sunday in Imola, choosing not to take to the track at the 4.909-kilometre Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari due to the tragic flood that was engulfing the Emilia Romagna region, is now ready to shine again. It will do so by competing in the most glamorous location one can find on the European continent: Monte Carlo.
The circuit in the Principality could be the right one to finally surprise the fans, after in the first five races of the 2023 Formula 1 campaign, including the Sprint in Baku, a Red Bull driver has always taken the top step of the podium.
In Monaco, however, qualifying is what counts the most, and Aston Martin, Mercedes, and especially Ferrari want to finally wipe the smile off the reigning world champions’ faces. The hometown idol, Charles Leclerc, doesn’t have a particularly good relationship with “his” Grand Prix. Despite securing pole position three times in Formula 2 and Formula 1, he has never managed to even get a podium finish, as the streets of the Principality make overtaking virtually impossible.
Ferrari’s issue
But in Monaco, it will be all about Ferrari attempting an impressive feat, starting with the first free practice session tomorrow. Between the track and the market, in fact, the Prancing Horse seems to be desperately searching for certainties, as highlighted by the Italian daily newspaper the Corriere dello Sport in a recent article written by Fulvio Solms, who, while presenting the Monegasque weekend, also mentioned the strange case of Laurent Mekies.

The French manager has already been officially announced by AlphaTauri for now he is still present on the pit wall of the Maranello team given his ongoing contract with Scuderia Ferrari:
“[…]. We don’t know if this is the right time, but the season isn’t going well, with Ferrari searching for itself on the technical front and many uncertainties regarding the staff (Laurent Mekies will still be on the pit wall). Red Bull is flying […], but if there’s a place where they can stumble, it’s Monte Carlo, and therefore Ferrari […] can and should take advantage of it. […]. Let’s not forget Carlos Sainz, […]. Just opportunistic enough, the Spaniard knows the Monte Carlo podium well […].’Adrenaline,’ says Charles when asked for a synonym for the Monaco GP. […]. After all, he used to drive it at twenty kilometers per hour on the school bus, […], he has all the elements at his disposal to appreciate the differences. Then there’s also the unpredictable weather: yesterday the forecasts said Friday dry, Saturday wet, and Sunday showers during the race. That’s another roulette, and shouldn’t be overlooked.” – Corriere dello Sport reports.
