F1 Spanish GP, live race coverage from Barcelona
Good afternoon, ScuderiaFans readers, and welcome to our live coverage of the race that will decide the 2026 Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix weekend.
The 66-lap contest at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya gets underway at 15:00 local time, with the chequered flag expected to fall around 90 minutes later, barring any incidents, Safety Cars, red flags or other interruptions.
Starting from pole position after an intense and highly competitive qualifying session is George Russell. The Mercedes driver confirmed the strong pace he had shown throughout practice and secured the top spot on the grid ahead of a resurgent Lewis Hamilton. The Ferrari driver produced one of his strongest performances of the season and will now look to use the long run down to Turn 1 to challenge his former teammate and take the lead at the start.
On the second row are Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Lando Norris, while the third row features the two Red Bull drivers, Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar.
Further down the order, Charles Leclerc faces a difficult afternoon after a costly mistake at the beginning of Q3. The Ferrari driver crashed into the tyre barriers on the outside of Turn 4 and will start only tenth on the grid, leaving him with plenty of work to do if he hopes to fight back through the field.
Who will emerge victorious in the seventh round of the 2026 Formula 1 season?
Join us throughout the afternoon as we follow and comment on every key moment from the Spanish Grand Prix, the highlight of the Barcelona Formula 1 weekend.
