Lewis Hamilton has often spoken about the need to modify certain internal processes within the team. The British driver has sent numerous documents to team leadership proposing changes in internal organization and on-track execution. His contribution is considered highly valuable for Ferrari, as the team prepares for 2026. Lewis Hamilton refuses to give up and believes that this team has the potential to achieve much more. Here are his comments during the Mexican Grand Prix weekend at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
Hamilton: “Sometimes you have to push to get certain changes”
“I think we’re really making progress with the team and that we have a strong relationship, especially after the summer break. I think things have started to improve, and it’s really about building trust and communication. Additionally, I’m joining a team where English isn’t the first language, and I don’t speak Italian, so it’s about finding common ground. The fact is that we all want to win. We’re all here for the same goal and we just have to keep pushing. That’s why I try to keep everyone motivated during difficult weekends, keeping morale high,” Lewis Hamilton said.
The British driver reiterated that his input has been heard and that the Ferrari staff have taken his messages on board. What is now needed is actual implementation, which is not simple in a complex organization like Ferrari. As the team looks toward 2026, Sir Lewis is actively providing input for car development, hoping it will help him gain more feeling and confidence behind the wheel.
“But this year we’ve changed many, many things that I had suggested which hadn’t been done in the past, so they did listen. Not everything changes immediately, right off the bat. It takes time to build something. And as engineers, they really need testing. They need numbers. That’s what they work on. So sometimes you have to push to get certain changes,” Lewis Hamilton concluded.
