Matteo Bobbi commented on the Italian Grand Prix during the show *Race Anatomy*, discussing Ferrari’s winning strategy with Charles Leclerc.
Matteo Bobbi’s comments
These are the statements from the former driver: “I believe there was significant collaboration from McLaren [in the result, editor’s note] for giving Ferrari the opportunity.”
“However, I don’t agree with the word ‘risk.’ I believe that Ferrari actually took a more courageous approach compared to the competition, but not that risky.”
“I say this because, at worst, they would have secured a third and fourth place, which was the real and concrete result in terms of the car’s speed.”
“So they [Ferrari, editor’s note] tried to take a brave approach that, if it worked, gave them the result that eventually came, and if it didn’t work, it would still have given them the third and fourth place.”
“They were smart to try it. Something else could have happened, but in terms of tire wear – we also spoke with Pirelli – there was still plenty of rubber available.”

“The real issue is that you lose performance and the opponent catches up, but in terms of risk (like a blowout), there was still a lot of material in the tire to do many more laps,” Bobbi concluded.
