Mattia Binotto will soon vacate his role as Ferrari’s Formula 1 Team Principal and will be replaced by Alfa Romeo boss Frederic Vasseur, according to recent reports.
“A wrong choice”. Leo Turrini, an Italian journalist very close to Scuderia Ferrari, does not agree with the choice which is not yet official, but will be announced in the next few days. In fact, after the moment when Charles Leclerc took to the track with intermediate tires in Q3 at the Interlagos circuit in Brazil, while the circuit was completely dry, the management of the Maranello team decided to put an end to the Mattia Binotto era in charge of the Ferrari Formula 1 team.
In pole position for the replacement is Frederic Vasseur, a manager certainly appreciated by Charles Leclerc and his manager Nicholas Todt.
“The 2023 car is practically finished, which is why I don’t agree with this choice – said Leo Turrini, a guest of Radio24 during the show ‘Tutti convocati’ – the Mattia Binotto era is practically over, the direction seems to be the one that leads to Frederic Vasseur, friend of Nicholas Todt and also on excellent terms with Tavares, number one at Stellantis. As for the technical management, Simone Resta will return to Ferrari, after he was sent first at Sauber and then at Haas for not having a good relationship with Mattia Binotto. If behind this decision there is also the pressure of Charles Leclerc, my opinion is that it does not represent great news because enormous pressure will now be on the shoulders of the Monegasque, while Mattia Binotto will no longer be there. Ferrari seems to be experiencing an endless French revolution, it has guillotined several managers in the last 15 years without being able to win a world title” – Leo Turrini concluded.
