According to several reports in reliable Italian media outlets, Scuderia Ferrari have decided to replace Mattia Binotto as team boss. Alfa Romeo team principal Fred Vasseur will take over, according to the Italian media.
Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Mattia Binotto had paid the price for a 2022 Formula 1 championship which the Maranello team started with great prospects to fight for the Drivers and Constructors’ Championships, but gradually fell away as Red Bull went on to win both titles.
Several operational and strategy mistakes led to many points being lost by the Italian side this season. As a result, the pressure began to build on Mattia Binotto, the man responsable for Scuderia Ferrari’s results in the last four years. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fred Vasseur is held in high esteem by the Stellantis group and that he will replace Mattia Binotto after the end of the current championship.
Ferrari was officially asked about the news, but for now did not want to comment: “These are rumors and speculations that we never comment on.”
However, what could be even more important is the fact that Alfa Romeo Sauber boss Frederic Vasseur did not deny the possibility of joining the Maranello team, also limiting himself to a simple “No comment.”
