The American team Cadillac, after conducting a full Italian Grand Prix weekend simulation, is set to make its first on-track debut with a TPC car, featuring Mexican driver Sergio Perez. Next week, Sergio Perez will take part in a test session in the United Kingdom with a Ferrari provided by the Scuderia.
Next week, Cadillac, which will enter the F1 World Championship as the 11th team, will move beyond virtual simulations as Sergio Perez carries out his first on-track test in a TPC car. The Mexican driver was in California on Wednesday evening to throw the ceremonial first pitch at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium and revealed that next week he will be first in Charlotte and then in the UK. He explained that he will start with simulator sessions at the team’s headquarters, but he also plans to drive a Formula 1 car.
Sergio Perez added that he needs to begin preparation to be fully ready for the start of next year’s season, noting that he has lost neck muscle tone and needs to regain full functionality in order to drive a Formula 1 car at his best.
During the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, the American team ran a complete race weekend simulation with its staff, while following the Azerbaijan Grand Prix scheduled for this weekend, the team will have its first on-track outing with a TPC car.
Although there is no official confirmation yet, Sergio Perez himself has hinted that the car will be a Ferrari SF-23. Cadillac is understood to have reached an agreement with the Scuderia to supply a 2023 Ferrari car, as the US team will be using the power unit, gearbox, and suspension of the new 678 model under development by Ferrari’s Racing Division for the 2026 season.
While continuing to recruit the technical staff necessary to compete in the next championship with significant resources, Cadillac has also intensified its preparation activities to familiarize personnel with the demanding pace that the 24-race 2026 calendar will require.
