Following the recent speculations about Sebastian Vettel possibly joining the Formula E grid with the ABT Cupra team in 2024, the four-time world champion has responded to the rumors surrounding his future. The CEO of the German team, Thomas Biermaier, and Nico Muller had ignited hopes among fans of seeing Sebastian back in a racing car next year. However, Sebastian Vettel has denied any potential connection with Formula E.
Sebastian Vettel dismisses rumors of his possible move to Formula E in 2024
“I don’t know if he’s already bored with having stopped, but I know a German ex-Formula 1 champion who has moved to Switzerland for a while,” stated Nico Muller, a driver for the ABT Cupra team. “I would advise him to give it a try, it’s fun! It would be great not just for me, but for the whole movement.”
These words from the German driver were followed by those of CEO Thomas Biermaier: “Frijns’ plans don’t align with ours. Robin is a friend and will remain so. Maybe we’ll visit him in Switzerland. There are drivers very committed to the environment who are dedicated to sustainability.”
However, speaking to motorsport.es, the former Scuderia Ferrari driver wanted to deny any potential rumors: “I’m not in negotiations to race in Formula E with ABT Cupra or any other team.” Words have been put in my mouth. I would like to clarify that, at the moment, I am not considering a return to motorsport.” – the German pointed out.

“I tried to convince Sebastian to come to Formula E. He’s busy, I think he has a future job planned, I heard. He’s very committed to sustainability, to many of the values we share. We weren’t in the right place at the right time.”
Thus, Sebastian Vettel’s fans will remain disappointed, as they had hoped for a return of their favorite driver to racing after he hung up his helmet last December, bidding farewell to Formula 1 after fifteen years. Seb remains a fan favorite among the Tifosi, despite not being able to bring the title back to Maranello.
