Sebastian Vettel‘s contract with Scuderia Ferrari expires at the end of the 2017 Formula 1 season and many rumours have indicated the possibility for the four-time world champion of moving to Mercedes in order to be able to drive a car which could allow him to better express his talent and skills. These rumors are backed up by the argument that Valtteri Bottas has signed a deal of only one year with Mercedes, wihich is highly unusual for a Formula 1 contract, indicating to the idea that Mercedes are waiting for Sebastian Vettel’s current agreement with Ferrari to be over.
However, despite the fact that he and the Ferrari team been going through a somewhat difficult period in their relations raising the possibly that Vettel might allow himself to be poached by Mercedes for 2018, the 29-year-old insisted that winning a title for the Scuderia continues to remain his highest ambition in Formula One: “I think if you are racing for Ferrari and, you know, obviously I had the chance to win some championships so you want to win again, so that’s our target – we want win the championship. But it’s very difficult to have any expectations or have any feeling going into the season because everything is all so new” – Sebastian said, as reported by f1i.com – “It is still stepping up so we should be in a good place but it’s impossible to make predictions right now.”
The major rule changes for the 2017 Formula 1 season should have a positive impact on the races, as the FIA and Liberty Media Corporation, the new the new owner of Formula One, hope to bring the public back to the tracks and make the races more entertaining. However, these important changes regading the rules will not necessarily lead to more overtaking, as Sebastian Vettel points out: “Whether we will see more overtaking or not, I’m not sure. I don’t think we will see a lot more overtaking, but hopefully the racing will be better and more fun to drive the cars – if you go faster then it’s normally always more fun.”
