The beginning of each year may not be the favourite period for Formula 1 fans, as there is no action on the tracks, but for the F1 teams it is a crucial part of the season, with intense preparations and work on the new cars, as well as a thorough analysis of the data collected from the simulators. Sebastian Vettel wants to show everyone at Maranello that he means business and after two solid work days with the Scuderia Ferrari technicians, the German driver is confident the Italian team is on the right track for a a successful 2017 Formula 1 championship:
“There are a lot of things changing for this seasons, so of course it’s a busy and important period for us, for everybody. We are quite happy with the work we have done, but our programme is far from over.” – Sebastian said, as reported by Sports Mole – “Obviously there’s still a long way to go, but I look forward to getting a first feeling of the car during pre-season testing, which should give us a better insight on the work we have done during recent weeks. It’s going to be a bit tricky with the new cars, but I am positive we can achieve great results as a team.” – Vettel added.
The Ferrari driver has a lot of experience of higher g-forces and cornering speeds from the period in which he first raced in Formula 1 back in 2007 and the four-time champion believes the changes introduced from the 2017 Formula 1 championship will be more “challenging” for everyone on the F1 grid: “The car should be significantly faster. Not so much on the straight, I think the straights will actually be a little bit slower as far as the top speed is concerned, but cornering speeds will be a lot higher which means forces are higher and as a result it will be more physical as well. It will be very interesting to see how the new tyres will behave, the cars will have significantly more downforce than what we tested with last year, so it is going to be a new situation for everyone.” – Sebastian Vettel concluded.
