Fernando Alonso leaving Formula 1 was one of the most discussed topics of the day in the F1 paddok ahead of the 2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel was also asked to share his thoughts on this matter especially given the intense rivalry between the two drivers when they were fighting for the world title:
“The last few years we didn’t have much to do with each other. I am saying this without any bad intentions: from our characteristics we are not the most compatible people in the paddock, but what I can say is that I’m pretty sure he will come back one more time in Formula 1.” – Sebastian Vettel said.
Meanwhile, his teammate Kimi Raikkonen is off to Sauber and Charles Leclerc will be new man at Scuderia Ferrari. And Sebastian Vettel said both the drivers are poles apart:
“They’re two different things. I tried to beat Kimi and he tried to beat me. I think it doesn’t matter who you are racing in the team, you always try to win and that means you also beat whoever is driving with you in the same team, so I don’t think that changes. Obviously Charles is different to Kimi so we will see how it goes but I think he’s a good kid. Obviously the team knows him very well for a while now, since he’s grown in the Ferrari Drivers Academy. I am happy for him and then we’ll see how it works out.” – the four-time Formula One world champion concluded.
