Sebastian Vettel faces an uncertain future in Formula 1 with his contract set to expire with the Maranello team at the end of 2020. According to recent rumours the two parties could be parting ways early and some even stated that the Styrian Grand Prix would be the German driver’s last race for Scuderia Ferrari.
However, Sebastian confirmed that he intends to finish the 2020 Formula One season alogside the Maranello team. When asked if he would consider leaving Ferrari mid-season, the four-time world champion said: “No I don’t think so. I am not running away from it. I think I have something to prove, mostly to myself and that’s why I am here for. Obviously as I said a lot of guys in the team have given so much to me in the last couple of years, just out of respect, I want to give that support back and bring it to a worthy end so I am not at all considering running away! In the end I am here to do what I can do. Try to control the things that I can control, everything else is sort of out of my hand. Certainly it’s a busy period. I think I am up for the challenge and strong enough to over come this aswell.” – Sebastian explained in Thursday’s press conference ahead of the second round of the season.
Sebastian Vettel about going up the mountain on Monday after the first Grand Prix in Austria, to clear his mind after the race: “I picked the one opposite to the track, cycled up there, had a picnic, a rest, read a little bit and cycled down so. I really enjoyed that. It helped to digest obviously some thoughts.” – he concluded.
