Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel is still confident that it is possible for him to achieve at least one more championship title with Scuderia Ferrari, regardless of the disappointing 2015 season, during which the German driver did not manage to win a race and was frustrated with the way things were going for the Italian team, who was unable to produce a competitive car last year:
“Well, I think it is only a matter of time” – Sebastian said, when asked about his chances of winning the title with Scuderia Ferrari during the next years – “Obviously it was a very big step for me when I decided to change teams, at the time when I made this decision” – the German driver conceded, as reported by the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport – “Everybody was well aware of the fact that it would take some time, but we should not forget that we had a good season back in 2015, when we got closer and closer to Mercedes. “Obviously then our hopes and expectations for 2016 were very high,” – Sebastian Vettel continued, as he admitted that the 2016 Formula One Championship did not go as planned, with Scuderia Ferrari failing to score even a single race victory last year with either the German driver or his team mate Kimi Raikkonen:
“We did not manage to achieve what we wanted, but I still say that the car was much better than people think, especially in the race. We probably deserved more in terms of results, but obviously we were far from what we what we planned at the beginnig of 2016 and I am sure that this time we will do a much better job. Now our main target for the new season is to win the championship, to fight for both titles. I think there is a lot of change that I see, there have been many changes that took place inside the team and I am sure this will make us a lot stronger as a team, so I am pretty confident about that.” – Sebastian Vettel concluded.
