Scuderia Ferrari has become the first Formula One team to officially announce a date for the presentation of the new car. The Italian team will launch the 2017 challenger on Friday February 24 next year, as Ferrari confirmed that it will run the new car at the Fiorano test circuit, located near the Italian town of Maranello, for two filming days and soon after will head for Spain where the Barcelona pre-season official testing will take place.
Ferrari’s chief technical officer, Mattia Binotto, who replaced James Allison as the team’s head of technical department, recently argued that the Scuderia has to capitalize on the major rule changes for the 2017 season and also produce a car that can be more easily devoloped and updated during the year, as opposed to the many difficulties encountered last year: “There is nothing to say that we here in Maranello cannot build such a car”, Mattia Binotto said, as reported by the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport – “It is only a matter of time. What we need is to improve on creating and introducing innovative new solutions before others do.”
Scuderia Ferrari hast not yet to reveale the official name for the 2017 Formula 1 car, but most importantly, the team is confident that the new season will bring the munch needed improvements in order for Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen to rely on a competitive car, which sould give them the possibility to constantly fight for podiums and victories with Red Bull and Mercedes.
