Official tyre supplier Pirelli has confirmed the tyre selections each driver has made for the upcoming Brazilian Grand Prix – the penultimate round of the 2017 Formula One season, which is scheduled to take place on 12 November 2017 at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in the Interlagos neighborhood of São Paulo, Brazil. The event marks the forty-sixth running of the Brazilian Grand Prix, the forty-fifth time that the race has been run as a World Championship event since the inaugural season in 1950, and the thirty-fourth World Championship event to be held at Interlagos.
For the ninth and last time this season, Pirelli is offering a medium, soft and supersoft combo, a selection identical to China, Bahrain, Azerbaijan, Britain, Hungary, Italy, Malaysia and Japan.
Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen have chosen nine sets of the supersoft tyre, three sets of the softs and one set of the white Medium. Drivers have stocked up on Pirelli’s red Supersoft tyre, while Lewis Hamilton and his Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas opted for eight sets each, four of the yellow Soft and just one of the white Medium.
That’s a strategy reflected by Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo, Force India, Toro Rosso and Haas. Max Verstappen has an extra set of the Supersoft at nine apiece, and one less of the Soft. No driver has more than one set of the Medium tyre as Brazil’s Interlagos circuit is a particularly low degradation track.
