In recent months, the only issue that has really fascinated – and agitated – the many Ferrari fans located around all over the world has been that of the team principal. First it was necessary to understand if Mattia Binotto was really on the way out, then who would have been his successor and finally, now that Frederic Vasseur has been officially appointed in the role, the curiosity is to find out if he is really the right man to bring back Ferrari at the top after so many years.
The track will give the first answers starting from the month of March, but there have been many who have tried to anticipate what could happen, trying to explain to the public that loves the Maranello team who in fact is the French manager who will lead the Prancing Horse in the coming years.
Swiss-French professional racing driver, competing under the French flag in the NTT IndyCar Series, Romain Grosjean, an old acquaintance of Formula 1, knows his compatriot well. In fact, with Frederic Vasseur as team principal, Romain Grosjean impressed in the junior categories on his way to Formula 1, winning in Formula 3 and in the GP2 Asia. Being on the top of the Ferrari Formula 1 Racing Division is obviously a very different task, but the former Lotus and Haas driver is convinced that Frederic Vasseur is the right man to steer the Maranello boat to that promise land that has not been seen on the horizon for over three decades now. Interviewed by the Italian daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, the new Lamborghini driver spoke very positively about the Ferrari team principal.
“Ferrari is a huge challenge for anyone” – Romain Grosjean admitted – “But Fred Vasseur can do it“. Many see the choice of Frederic Vasseur as a ‘favor’ done to Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc, who made his Formula 1 debut with the French manager back in 2018 for Sauber.

Romain Grosjean confirms the excellent relationship that binds the two, but does not believe that the appointment was made to put Carlos Sainz in a position to be the second driver in the 2023 Formula 1 season: “Fred Vasseur and Charles Leclerc are very close friends and this helps the atmosphere within the team” – continued the former Haas Formula 1 driver – “But he also knows Carlos Sainz well. The car is good, in 2022 the race management went less well. In 2023 Ferrari will fight for the World championship” – Romain Grosjean concluded. And all Ferrari fans very enthusiastically and passionately hope that Romain Grosjean is right.
