Speaking for the Motorsport Italy podcast, Roberto Chinchero analyzed Scuderia Ferrari’s weekend in Austria and assessed the current situation for the near future. Here are some of his most important thoughts and comments:
Roberto Chinchero: “I believe Ferrari has found the right path.”
“Ferrari performed very well in the previous race in Montreal, but there was still doubt that the improvements could be attributed to the nature of the track. I think this weekend has removed many of those doubts: the updates brought were developed in the right direction, the car has improved, and the dreaded tire degradation that has plagued Ferrari since the beginning of the season was not seen,” emphasizes Roberto Chinchero, commenting on the performance of the Prancing Horse at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.
Everything suggests that Ferrari has left behind the crisis they experienced at the beginning of the 2023 Formula One season. “We can say that Montreal was not an isolated incident: this revised SF-23 seems to have solved many of the problems they had at the start of the championship. Red Bull is on another level, and that applies to all their rivals. Among all the rivals, however, the best have been the Ferrari cars.” – he pointed out.

“Yes, but this year it is not possible to catch up with Red Bull. They can find the way, and I believe they have found it. It is the path to provide input for the new project, namely the car for 2024. These results, these race days, these validations, I believe they help more than just the points themselves: they give confidence to a group that has gone through a challenging period, they help to solidify the team. Let’s not forget the rain of criticism after the Barcelona race when Ferrari struggled to finish the race due to tire wear.” – the Italian journalist concluded.
