“From our point of view we have obviously not committed any infractions. There are ongoing discussions with the FIA on six items, if two were within the cap budget we would be well below the spending limit” – These were the comments made by current Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko in Singapore, as he attempted to explain his view on the subject of the dispute between the FIA and Red Bull in relation to the items of what expenditures can and cannot be included in the budget cap for the 2021 Formula 1 season.
The FIA should have presented its first conclusions regarding the financial reports and possible penalties yesterday but through a press release the Federation postponed everything to Monday 10 October, after the Japanese Grand Prix, in the start of the only week of October that will not lead to a race weekend since Formula 1 will be on its way to the Americas for the events in the United States and Mexico.
Helmut Marko, when asked about the budget cap rules for 2021, had indicated at Marina Bay the fact that Red Bull is divided into Red Bull Racing Limited, Red Bull Technology Limited and Red Bull Powertrains Limited, but in 2022 the scenario could even be doubled.
In fact, today’s edition of the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport emphasizes this peculiarity of Red Bull, which is now divided into six branches, only one of which actually bears the name Red Bull Racing Limited.
The confirmation directly comes from the Companies House, the British register of companies. Between January and May of 2022, three other companies were created by Red Bull in addition to the three already existing in 2021. In fact, Red Bull Advanced Technologies Limited, Red Bull Powertrains 2026 Ltd and Red Bull Advanced Services Limited. The activities of the other companies in addition to Red Bull Racing Limited are classified as ‘manufacture of components and accessories for motor vehicles’.

In addition to Dietrich Mateschitz, they are there same three names that manage each project: Christian Horner, Helmut Marko and Alistair David Rew, CFO who has been part of Red Bull since 2007. The last visible financial statements (referring to the year 2020) state only 59 employees for Red Bull Racing and 875 for Technology, which deals with many activities outside Formula 1.

Faced with several companies which any case are linked to Red Bull Racing Limited, a consideration is therefore automatic: if already in the 2021 Formula One season there are budget inconsistencies, the scenario relating to 2022 could even be more tangled and difficult to define in light of Red Bull’s call to further create new entities.
