Qatar F1 GP Qualifying LIVE: Ferrari is on the hunt for pole position. Follow the live commentary. After a Friday of mixed fortunes, the two SF-24s return to the track hoping for redemption. The setup changes made could lead to a better result, aiming to challenge McLaren in Sunday’s Grand Prix.
Formula 1 returns to Qatar with a spectacular show full of surprises. On Friday, McLaren dominated as expected: Lando Norris secured pole position in the Sprint Shootout, joined by the surprise of George Russell. Mercedes could play a crucial role in the constructors’ title fight by taking valuable points away from Ferrari.
The goal in qualifying will be to get ahead of both W15s – with Lewis Hamilton nonetheless struggling more – and, of course, at least one of the MCL38s. Among the Papaya drivers, Oscar Piastri appears to be trailing, making him a target both on Saturday and Sunday.
Maranello needs to address the understeer issues that complicated Friday’s work. However, the experimental floor tested by Charles Leclerc showed promising signs and could be a key factor for the rest of the weekend. Red Bull, meanwhile, seems to be struggling to match the pace of McLaren and Ferrari, at least in single-lap performance.
