Pirelli has revealed the tire compounds for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, confirming the same choices as in previous editions and alerting teams to critical temperature conditions. As Formula 1 enters the final phase of the 2025 season, the last three race weekends will take place consecutively, with the American round expected to be by far the coldest of the championship.
Last year, it was George Russell who took victory thanks to a two-stop strategy. In previous editions, teams have also faced significant graining, but thanks to the composition of this year’s tires, the situation is expected to improve considerably.
Tire compounds for the Las Vegas Grand Prix
Pirelli has confirmed the compounds that were also used in past Las Vegas editions. For this race, the available tires for the teams will be the C3, C4, and C5 compounds. The decision not to bring softer compounds is aimed at avoiding the graining issues observed in 2024.
According to the Italian manufacturer, one of the main challenges will be managing tire temperatures, especially during qualifying. The earlier scheduling of track sessions will help drivers by providing slightly less severe conditions, which facilitate faster tire warm-up.
Track characteristics
The circuit, located in the Nevada desert, features 17 corners and a race distance of 50 laps. Nearly 80% of the lap is completed at full throttle. With a total length of 6,201 meters, it is the second-longest track on the calendar after Spa. Sessions will be held at night, but the start time has been brought forward by two hours.
Track evolution will be a key factor, particularly in qualifying. Tire degradation is not expected to be high, with the rear axle tires being subjected to the most stress. The long straight before the main finish line allows cars to reach maximum speeds while placing significant demands on the power units.
