In a few weeks, Formula 1 will return to racing in the American continent with three races from October 20th to November 5th, visiting the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Texas, the racetrack in Mexico City, and finally the one in Interlagos, Brazil. It’s for this reason that the Italian tire supplier for every team has already begun to determine which tire compounds it will bring to each of these events.
Pirelli’s Choices

The tire nominations remain the same as last year for Austin and Interlagos: C2 as the P Zero White hard, C3 as the P Zero Yellow medium, and C4 as the P Zero Red soft. However, for the Mexican Grand Prix in Mexico City, slightly softer tire compounds have been chosen compared to the previous year. Pirelli will bring C3 as the P Zero White hard, C4 as the P Zero Yellow medium, and C5 as the P Zero Red soft.
Additionally, as communicated by the Italian tire manufacturer, a new version of the C4 will be tested during the free practice sessions in Mexico in preparation for 2024. This testing will be conducted in the same manner as last Friday in Suzuka, where a new version of the C2 was experimented with. Each team will receive two extra sets of the experimental compound per driver, which they can use as they see fit during the two hours of free practice scheduled for Friday.
Finally, it’s worth noting that both at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) and Interlagos, Sprint races will be held, which means the weekends will feature just a single hour of free practice, with qualifying already taking place on Friday.
