In 2026, Spain will host two home Formula 1 Grands Prix, marking a significant moment for the country’s presence on the F1 calendar. The prize that will be awarded to the top three finishers of the first race in Madrid has now been officially revealed, adding further anticipation ahead of the event.
The Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix set to take place on the brand-new Madrid circuit already has its official trophy. Among the three finalist projects, the design created by Pininfarina has been selected. Named “Monumental,” it is a creation that pays tribute to the circuit’s signature corner at the Madring and will be presented to the winner of the race scheduled to take place from September 11 to 13, 2026.
“Monumental”, the trophy that celebrates the Madring
The winning trophy is an aluminum sculpture that recreates the layout of the Madrid circuit, progressively deforming until it reaches the famous Turn 12, the long banked corner known as “Monumental.” Its shape resembles a stylized G or a number 6, designed to convey movement, precision, and adrenaline, much like a perfect lap in Formula 1.
Running through the interior of the structure is a crimson red line, a reference to the city of Madrid, which follows the circuit layout, while the event’s logo is seamlessly integrated into the design. The designers explained that the concept was to transform the track into an artistic gesture capable of telling the story of speed and the tension of racing.
“Designing a trophy means creating a symbol, not only of the sport but also of the people and the country that host the race,” explained representatives from Pininfarina. “We wanted to translate these values into an evocative shape, capable of conveying the emotion and adrenaline experienced both on track and in the grandstands.”
Official unveiling in Madrid
The trophy was unveiled during a dedicated event held at the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid, with the participation of Carlos Sainz, who was a member of the jury alongside figures from the worlds of art, architecture, and Formula 1. The Pininfarina project was selected thanks to the elegance of its lines and its strong iconic identity.
“A name like Pininfarina demonstrates the scale and ambition of the Madrid Grand Prix project,” commented Carlos Sainz. “Monumental will not just be an object, but the symbol of victory in our city and of the most iconic corner of the circuit.”
The chosen design prevailed over the other two finalist proposals, “Regnatrix Aurea” by Sandra Val and “Ascent” by Laura Talaya. Now, only one question remains: who will be the first driver to lift the Monumental trophy in the history of the new Madrid Grand Prix?
